YOU Can Help!

Helping GPA/SAL

There are several ways to help GPA/SAL.  Our main purpose is finding families to permanently adopt these loving Greyhounds,  but adopting is not for everyone.  If you cannot adopt and/or would like to help in another way, please check out these other ways to help.

Adopting

Please refer to  our Adoption Information page.

Fostering

Foster families are the BACKBONE of our organization.  All it takes is your time and love!  Fostering is the all important bridge between the Greyhound’s racing and kennel lifestyles to retirement in a loving home.  It prepares the dog for life in an environment for which it is not accustom and it provides stability for their first contact with the world outside of racing.  Greyhounds newly retired from racing have spent the majority, usually all of their time in a kennel.  Common household items, such as mirrors, sliding glass doors, ceiling fans, stairs, wood or tile floors, and noisy appliances are new and often intimidating to these dogs.  They need a safe and reassuring environment where they can learn about these things and know that they are loved by the new people in their lives.

GPA/SAL provides the veterinary care, the crate (if needed), and an abundance of support;  all that is needed is your love and your time in caring for these Greyhounds making the transition from kennel to home.

For more information and a Foster Contract, please contact us.

Sponsoring

If  you are interested in being a Corporate Sponsor for GPA/SAL, please contact us.  Our Corporate Sponsors are very important to our organization.   They host Meet & Greets (exhibitions of our fosters) and advertise for GPA/SAL.

Sponsor a Foster– For  a monetary donation of $150 or more, you can be the sponsor of an Available Hound.  That donation will go towards the cost of the dog’s initial veterinary expenses, and goes a long way in our cause.  You will also be listed as the Sponsor of that hound next to his/her picture on our “Available Hounds” page.

Donating

GPA/SAL is a non-profit organization and relies only on the donations and time  of our volunteers.  All of the money we receive goes to the care and vet expenses of the Greyhounds.  If you would like to make a monetary donation to GPA/SAL, we thank you and offer several ways to do so.   Please remember all donations are tax deductible.

Volunteering

If adopting and fostering is not for you and donating money is not an option, please consider donating your time.  We are always looking for people to come to Meet & Greets and other events to talk to people about Greyhounds and help handle the dogs.   If you are interested in giving your invaluable time, please contact us.

Greyhounds are very affectionate!

Greyhounds are use to being handled,  making grooming and daily care less difficult.
